If you really think about it, the files and DLLs that an AV programs installed in Windows make your system much less secure than just relying on Windows update. You should pretty much know at this point if you are doing something shady. Leave the Administrative rights enabled and you won't install anything bad. The whole concept of antivirus itself is antiquited. Thanks again all for the comments, I'm thorougly enjoying the game and am glad you all have helped put my conscience at ease. As for Steam, I didn't know that they scanned the files for viruses. I have made an exception for it, but my only reason for the post was to be safe rather than sorry. I may try Malwarebytes like you suggested, Jimmy. It's the only reason I continue to use it. I know AVG isn't the best but I've been using it for years without any virus troubles.
